Our award-winning #BrusselsCalling media show goes on! We will be quizzing a panel of national correspondents on making sense of EU decision-making for their readers back home.
EU correspondents for national media make up the largest of the different media tribes in the Brussels bubble but are still the most “difficult” to decode. These correspondents are (mostly) solitary, unique, autonomous and fast-moving. They tend to be generalists who dip in and out of the hot topics of the moment but also need to analyse wider trends, developments and figures.
These journalists have to get to grips with a bewildering array of dossiers, find the national angle and make it all accessible for their readers in-country (and not only). How can a co-dweller of the Brussels bubble meet them halfway? Can the same story interest different EU correspondents from Germany, France and the UK? Can they have the same sources? How easy is it for them to escape the big political debates and focus on more specific sectors and issues? Come and hear all about it in our next panel discussion with key national correspondents.
