SEC Newgate EU is a Brussels-based advocacy and communications consultancy with global reach, as part of the award-winning SEC Newgate Group.

We are looking for a talented consultant with a sound grasp of EU policy, flair for communications and a can-do mindset to join our thriving trade practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in EU external policies, trade and public affairs, keen to work in a stimulating multicultural, multinational environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide high-quality advice, analysis, and strategic insights on EU external policies, regulatory issues, and advocacy opportunities to our diverse client base.
  • Track EU legislative and regulatory developments in EU trade, customs, and external relations ensuring clients are informed and able to respond proactively to potential impacts.
  • Prepare compelling advocacy materials, such as position papers, policy briefings, monitoring alerts, and key messaging, that articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute client events, including high-profile advocacy meetings, policy briefings, stakeholder discussions, and public affairs campaigns.
  • Develop and manage client projects including setting measurable objectives, coordinating resources, and ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Expand SEC Newgate EU’s presence and network.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members, reviewing their work and contributing to their professional development.
  • Support marketing and business development activities, including preparing proposals, engaging in networking opportunities, and participating in strategic planning for practice growth.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • University education.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in EU public affairs, inside or around the EU institutions, in a consultancy and/or industry association, with a focus on trade, EU external relations, and/or agri-food.
  • A solid knowledge of European politics, EU external relations, foreign affairs and trade with the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into actionable insights.
  • Commercially astute with a strong sense of client service.
  • Exceptional command of spoken and written English; any additional language is a plus.
  • A talent for producing high-quality written materials that are clear, concise, and impactful.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain professional networks.
  • A team-oriented mindset, with strong people-management skills, intellectual curiosity, and the drive to support and develop colleagues.
  • A self-starter who can operate autonomously and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
