SEC Newgate EU is a Brussels-based advocacy and communications consultancy with global reach through the SEC Newgate group.
We are looking for a talented intern to join our policy team. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or related fields as part of their academic journey. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is keen to work in a stimulating multicultural, multinational environment, with a passion for EU policies and a good understanding of EU processes.

Your role and responsibilities
- Tracking EU legislative files and monitoring media coverage on relevant EU policies.
- Conducting analysis and research on EU policies, political developments, and regulatory trends.
- Staying updated on the latest EU policy developments and institutional activities.
- Following the work of the EU Institutions on key topics and initiatives.
- Assisting in the organization of stakeholder meetings, including preparing briefing materials and agendas.
- Drafting memos, briefing notes, and other key documents to support projects and client needs.
Qualifications and requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Political Science, Communication, International Relations, Public Policy, or related fields).
- Excellent command of spoken and written English. Any other languages a plus.
- Strong interest in public affairs, policymaking, or advocacy.
- Excellent research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn and contribute.
